UPDATE: City Of Eureka Launches Zero Waste Community Baseline Survey

This update reflects the addition of a letter of support for the program from the Mayor of Eureka.

The City wants you involved the upcoming Zero Waste Action planning process! Residents, non-residents that work here, and frequent visitors are invited to participate via the November 2019 baseline survey.

In a letter to the community, Mayor Susan Seaman says:

“The City’s Zero Waste Action Plan will be a call to action for Eureka citizens and businesses to reduce our community’s waste, currently amounting to six pounds per per person per day…I urge you to join the City of Eureka as we shift our approach to sustainable materials management and Zero Waste prevention strategies by refusing, reducing, reusing, and recycling… Innovative waste reduction initiatives will become a point of pride for Eureka. Individual and business actions can have a measurable impact and as a community, we can make a real difference.”

UPDATE: Clara May Berry Park Grand Re-Opening changed to Dec 14

This update reflects a change in date and time for the grand opening of the Clara May Berry park grand re-opening. It will now be Dec 14 from 11AM to 1PM

Clara May Berry park has undergone a transformation and is officially reopening on December 14th! (updated date)

UPDATE: Showdown Theater Summer Camp for Kids teams with NCRT

This update reflects a change in location for the final performance for the children. They will now be performing on the stage at NCRT! It also finalizes the date and time of the final performance.

This is a rare opportunity; taught by professionals in the movie and entertainment industry who are coming to Eureka just to lead this camp.

In this camp, your children will go far beyond learning how to act, write, or present themselves with confidence, but will also gain valuable life skills that apply to all stages of life while learning theater games, acting, singing, movement, and other basic theater stagecraft.

Campers will help to produce a short play that will be performed for family, friends, and community members at the end of the session at the NCRT.

UPDATE: Old Town Walking Tours Start Time Changed

This update reflects that the tours’ start time will now be at noon instead of 1PM.

Take the family on an interactive history lesson of Old Town

This hour-long walking tour will reveal Eureka’s long history as a Victorian seaport and lumber town. There will be three opportunities on Get Out & Play Day so make sure you don’t miss it!

This tour meets and ends at the Clarke Museum.

UPDATE: Silver Sneakers Classic Start Date Changed to June 16

Good news! Silver Sneakers Classic is coming to the Adorni Center!

Designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement and improve activities for daily living. A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support and class can be modified depending on fitness levels.

Softball Registration Deadlines Approaching

The deadline for registration for men’s softball and coed Softball are coming up quickly.

The men’s deadline is next Friday the 17th and the coed deadline is the 31st.

This update adds three drop in participation options for those unable to make the other event (see below in red).

The City of Eureka is excited to announce its application for the Prop 68: Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program. This funding opportunity helps fund park projects in critically underserved communities. The city is working hard to improve all city parks with the focus of this grant application being to revitalize 20/30 Park, located at 2605 Pine St.

The City of Eureka would like to you to be part of the process, you are invited to join us for two planned community meetings this month:

  • Lincoln School Cafeteria – 216 W. Harris St., Eureka April 30th 6pm-8pm
