City of Eureka Seeking Local Photos and Memories of Sequoia Park’s History

The City of Eureka is excited to reach out to the community to seek photos and memories of Sequoia Park and its Playground or the Sequoia Park Zoo in an effort to support the Sequoia Park Improvement Project. Do you have fond memories and photos of the 125-year-old history of these beloved spaces that you would be willing to share?

The City recently conducted several community outreach opportunities resulting in a new conceptual design for Sequoia Park. Community feedback prioritized a design which will enhance what is loved, restore what is broken, and provide what is missing.

E.C.O. Eureka Teaches Local Students About Stormwater Pollution

Eco Eureka and RCAA have teamed up to educate local students about the importance of stormwater pollution prevention.

This week students at EHS and Zane took a closer look at storm drains, gutters, permeable and impermeable surfaces, trash and water flow around their campuses to spark ideas of how to keep stormwater clean. Eureka Chosen as one of 20 Game Changing Locations in the United States

Sunset Magazine chose Eureka as the #2 “Game Changing City in the U.S”!

According to the magazine,

“This small seaport spent a decade restoring its waterfront with a newly completed 6-mile pedestrian trail. Adding to the charm are grand 19th-century homes, proximity to redwoods, and more artists per capita than anywhere else in the state.”
