Eureka Youth Council Accepting Applications for 2022 Term

What is Eureka Youth Council?

Eureka Youth Council is a unique program designed to give Eureka teens the opportunity to learn about local city government while working on projects that can have a positive impact on the community. Four members ages 14-18 will be chosen for Youth Council.

Through this program selected members will engage with local leaders and feel empowered while at the same time evolving their critical thinking skills and developing the civic leadership skills needed to represent their generation.

The Youth Council term will start on January 24, 2022 and will last through an estimated date of December 6, 2022. During this time Youth Council will take part in three major projects of their choosing, with the purpose of addressing a community cause or concern. Youth Council will then have the honor of presenting their project efforts to the Eureka City Council at a scheduled monthly meeting.

Members are expected to commit to a total of three meetings per month, taking place on Mondays from 4:30 – 6:30 pm at the Adorni Center or City Hall. Members may also have up to five hours per month in project homework or project-related activities.
