“Party in Pink” Zumbathon Fundraiser

Help raise money for the Breast and GYN Health Project and have a great time!

Michaele Whiteley will host the annual “Party in Pink” Zumbathon fundraiser on October 19, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Eureka Muni. Doors open at 5PM. The purpose is to raise breast cancer awareness and support a great local cause.

This is the biggest and best event ever!

This year, the event is led by the Zumba Dream Team: Michaele • Chelsea • Cory • Dani • Greg • Johanna • Judi • Mimi • Renee • Tigger • Ussi • Jessica

Ticket sales at the door $15 (kids get in free with a paying adult) Raffle tickets $2/ per ticket, $5/4 tickets, or $10/10 tickets.

Bitty Basketball for Toddlers starts October 12

Is your little one excited to dribble and shoot?

This class is the perfect environment for your little one to learn the very basic fundamentals of basketball, including ball handling and shooting. Emphasis will be on fun and games with some focus on basic ball handling, increased hand-eye coordination, self-confidence and teamwork.

Made From Scratch Baking Class for Kids Starts Oct 2

Eureka Community Services is offering a baking basics class for your children to learn the importance of kitchen safety, thoroughly reading recipes and all the goodness that comes from the kitchen.

Children will learn how to create simple recipes that they will record in their recipe books to take home at the end of the session.

Eureka Trash Bash Oct 5

Spend 90 minutes beautifying Eureka!

Join us for another Trash Bash on Saturday, Oct 5.

We will meet at 8:45am @ Old Chamber building next to Harbor Lanes Bowling Alley. We will have fresh coffee and bagels for our volunteers. We will start promptly at 9am and end at 10:30 am.

All supplies will be provided for the cleanup and it is family friendly!

We always end with a group photo and raffle!

Breakfast and coffee are FREE! Complimentary coffee served by Humboldt Bay Coffee. Please bring a reusable cup! And complimentary bagels by Los Bagels.

Join the Eureka Youth Council Internship Program

The Community Services Department is excited to announce the first session of the Eureka Youth Council, beginning September 25th.

This program is limited to 5 council members and is highly competitive. Applications are due by September 6th to the Recreation Supervisor.

The City of Eureka Youth Council Internship Program is an exciting opportunity for youth ages 14-18 to learn about their local government while representing Eureka’s youth population and making decisions on proposed positive change for youth in Eureka. Eureka will choose five youth to serve on the youth council each semester over the course of 8 weeks. This program will run Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday between the hours of 3:30pm-5pm. (Students will also be required to attend two City Council Meetings that take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm). 

  • Applications due by September 6th
  • Interviews the week of September 9th
  • Selection the week of September 16th
  • Program start date – September 25th
  • Program end date – November 15th

This internship program will put youth right in the middle of city operations, while also giving them a platform to advise the Eureka City Council on important issues impacting Eureka’s youth. Youth will learn the inner workings of city operations, as well as get the opportunity to make decisions on behalf of the youth population.
