Honor our Veterans at the Adorni Center

We will be honoring all the men and women who have selflessly served our country at the Adorni Center on Veterans Day.

Our featured speaker will be Colonel Ronald Pierre, United States Air Force Retired.

This observance and program are presented by the Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka in partnership with the City of Eureka. Please attend and please spread the word.

As a reminder, the Adorni Center will be closed that day with the exception of this event.

Youth Council Application Deadline Nov 19

The City of Eureka is launching a Youth Council to serve from January to May 2020 and is currently accepting applications.

Those chosen to participate are expected to commit a total of 3 meetings per month (first three Tuesdays of the month). Each meeting will run approx. 1½ to 2 hours. There will be 4 members chosen for Youth Council and the member ages will range from 14-18.

Next CPR Class on Nov 16

As for the class in general: This class is what is called a “blended learning” CPR class which means students must spend two hours on their computers on an-online class before coming in to class.

Thanksgiving Week Eureka Skateboard Camp

The purpose of this camp is to promote and encourage kids to be active and healthy through skating.

Campers will learn the fundamentals of skating through individual and group instruction. This camp will help kids of all skill levels focus on technique, skill, and safety. Each camper will be provided with elbow and knee pads. Campers will need to provide their own skateboard and helmet.

Recology Open House: “Our Waste Revealed” on Nov 10

You are invited to join the City of Eureka and Recology to learn about our community’s waste at a Recology Open House on November 10th from 9am-11am.

The City of Eureka is in the process of developing a Zero Waste Action Plan and this event will serve as an educational and public input opportunity.

A once in a lifetime chance:

You get to join Eureka City Councilmembers to work the recycling line and firsthand experience our communities waste. You will not only get an in-depth understanding of how recycling works, you will also see what doesn’t work! We will also be offering guided tours of the facility.

There will also be presentations by Recology, City of Eureka, and Zero Waste Humboldt on local waste related topics including the City’s Zero Waste Action Plan process. This includes opportunity to provide input on the City’s Zero Waste Action Plan and staff will be available for questions. 

This is family friendly and free to the public. We will also be offering a free pancake breakfast and zero waste activities.
