Pathway to Payday has a greater than 90% success rate receiving a second interview or a job offer for those who complete all four days.

City of Eureka Celebrates Another Successful Employment Workshop

The City of Eureka’s Pathway to Payday is a four-day employment workshop that takes place in partnership with the Betty Kwan Chinn Day Center. This event focuses on the enhancement of application, resume & interview skills, & offers participants the opportunity to interview with real employers for real jobs, receiving tangible feedback that they can apply to future interviews.

To date, Pathway to Payday has garnered a 90+% success rate with participants who complete all four days receiving either a second interview or a job offer.

This week, 23 of our valued community members completed the December 2019 Pathway to Payday event while 22 of these individuals received either a second interview or a job offer. Further, the participating businesses had overwhelmingly positive feedback about the candidates they interviewed.

Can You Teach Cooking? If so, we need you!

We just recently got a lot of new cooking equipment and have no one to use it – so we are looking for someone to teach an adult and kids community cooking class.

We are pretty open to what that means. You can structure it basically however you want.

The usual format is a 1 1/2 hour long class once a week for 6-8 weeks, but it depends on what works best for you.

Community classes ­are open to everyone in the entire community. they have a set topic with a group of attendees who go through the whole course. They run on a set schedule (such as Mondays from 6-8PM from April 3 through May 10, ex. Beginning Pottery class); or they repeat regularly with a different group of people attending each time (such as the third Saturday of each month at 7:45AM, ex. CPR class)

Have you been on the job hunt but are finding that you aren’t getting a call back for an interview?

Eureka Parks & Recreation and the Betty Chinn Day Center are committed to empowering the members of our community and providing them with the tools to set them up for success.  Which is why they have partnered to create Pathway to Payday—a unique and innovative workshop that will only teach you how to best sell yourself on your application & how to best be prepared for an interview.

What makes this workshop unique, is that participants will get the opportunity to immediately put these skills to the test with on-site interviews with real employers looking to hire.

• Express Employment Professionals

• North Coast Cleaning Services
• Eureka Parks & Recreation

Workshop participants are not guaranteed a job, but they are guaranteed this great opportunity. Last year, nearly 90% of workshop attendees left with a job.

There will be free on-site childcare available, lunch, as well as interview attire if needed.

This free workshop series will take place over four sessions at the Betty Kwan Chinn Day Center at 133 7^th Street in Eureka. Sessions take place Wednesday, April 26^th, Friday April 28^th, and Wednesday May 3^rd, and Friday May 5^th from 10am-1pm.
