PRESS RELEASE
The City of Eureka presents the Mayor’s 2nd Annual Home for the Holidays Decorating Contest, designed to spread joy and holiday cheer throughout the city.
Mayor Seaman is inviting Eureka residents to decorate their homes with their best holiday décor. This is an opportunity to drive the city to view the beautifully decorated homes in the City.
Individuals who have decorated their homes in an exceptional and creative manner will be recognized for their hard work.
The home with the most votes will receive the Mayor’s Holiday Award recognizing them for their contribution to bringing holiday cheer to our community.
We have been given a rare, once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape Sequoia Park’s future for the next 100 years and we need your help.
Whether you are an individual with only a few extra dollars to contribute, a small business able to make a larger donation, a local contractor who can donate some time or expertise, a landscaper who would like to help improve the part, or a well-funded organization contemplating a positive, community-oriented, project to express civic pride and involvement; please make a contribution this holiday season to the Sequoia Park Improvement Fund.
Donations are tax-deductible.
You can do so at www.ILoveSequoiaPark.com or by calling (707) 441-4206
We are so impressed by our local businesses and how creative and strong they have been through this year of uncertainty. Many of those businesses struggled through the tourism season, in what normally would be one of the most successful parts of the year.
Skip online shopping. This will support our local economy and reduce packaging and shipping waste! It’s a win-win.
The Community Access Project for Eureka (C.A.P.E.) is organizing a Winter Holiday Gift Program for local children who reside at the Eureka Rescue Mission Women’s Shelter and The Serenity Inn as well as children served by the Betty Chinn Homeless Foundation.
C.A.P.E. staff, along with Santa Clause & his elf, will be delivering gifts to the children as a special holiday treat.
C.A.P.E. would greatly appreciate monetary donations to help ensure every child receives a holiday gift! You can donate online by visiting www.eurekaheroes.org and click “donate” in the top right corner. Or you can mail a check to Attn: CAPE 531 K St. Eureka, CA 95501. Please make the check out to the “CAPE Fund”. No matter how big or small of a donation, your gift will help bring alive the holiday spirit for our local children.

Every year, the USDA Forest Service selects one of its 154 national forests to provide a tree to appear on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol building for the holiday season.
The Six Rivers National Forest in partnership with nonprofit partner Choose Outdoors will bring this special gift from California to Washington, D.C. for the 2021 holiday season. The Tree will make a special appearance in Eureka on Friday, October 29th from 4:30 pm-6:00 pm in the gravel parking lot adjacent to Madaket Plaza.
Hot cocoa and cider will be served. Homemade ornament kits will be given to take home.
