FREE Interpretive Leisure Bike Tour Highlighting Newest Section of Waterfront Trail

FREE!Eureka Community Services, in partnership with HSU’s Recreation Administration Department is offering a FREE interpretive leisure bike tour highlighting the newest section of the Eureka waterfront trail.

Staff will guide a tour along the waterfront, stopping at several locations along the way to discuss the history and culture of the surrounding waterfront area, as well as touch on the development of the trail system.

This event is open to all ages and is perfect to take the whole family too!

This “Cooper Gulch Work Day” event will assign volunteers to remove invasive plant species and replant natives at Cooper Gulch watershed. Meet at Cooper Gulch near the baseball fields at 10:00am.

Safety Saturday With Making Headway Center for Brain Injury Recovery and Community Services

Join Us and Making Headway Center for Brain Injury Recovery for Opening of their New Facility

If you have a brain or know someone who does, Fun, Free, Family-friendly Safety Saturday is for you!

Kids of all ages will enjoy safety demonstrations, free helmet fittings, helmet decorating, helmet giveaways and of course, the ever-popular Drunk Goggle Challenge. Ride the Seatbelt Convincer, enjoy “brainey” videos, learn about Stroke Awareness and have fun!

Safety Saturday is a presentation of Making Headway Center and Eureka Community Services.

Waterfront Trail Ribbon Cutting Feb 6

There will be a special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Waterfront Trail Tuesday, Feb 6 at 12:30 PM

It will take place behind the Blue Ox Mill (1 X Street, Eureka).

This is in addition to the Celebration of the opening of the trail taking place on February 10 at the Wharfinger building. To find out more about that event, follow this link.

Ribbon Cutting for New Basketball Courts This Saturday

Highland Park just got an upgrade!

Southwest Rotary raised funds at their Martini’s on the Bay Event to purchase new fencing, while Mercer Fraser donated a new surface overlay of the basketball courts and adjacent access path, and Hamanaka Painting donated new striping for the court.

Join us this Saturday for a special ribbon cutting of the courts, and help us celebrate the community coming together to help rehabilitate Highland Park!

The ribbon cutting takes place noon at Highland Park.

Did you know that the construction of our waterfront trail is now complete?

Yep, that’s the case. (In case you didn’t know, it’s 6.3 miles from one end to the other.)

So, since it’s done (short of adding some amenities), let’s celebrate!

FREE!Join us for this FREE event on February 10 at the Wharfinger building:

  • Get a sneak peak of the trail amenities to be installed between now and September
  • Watch a special premiere of the documentary which tells the history of the trail, entitled “Battle for the Eureka Waterfront Trail” The untold story of the trials and tribulations that led to the development of Eureka’s newest crown jewel.”  
  • Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and and a no host bar
