The Del Norte Pier Picnic Area, adjacent to the Waterfront Trail at the foot of Del Norte Street, will be developed and expanded to include a new restroom facility, playground and dog park.
The new playground will be inclusive so youth of all abilities can participate in the fun. This will be the second dog park developed in Eureka and will provide another welcome play area for four-legged friends. The new Parks-Waterfront Ranger will patrol the area as it is along the Waterfront Trail. This park expansion is made possible thanks to a $125,000 grant from the Housing Related Parks Program administered by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, as well as a portion of a $250,000 one-time allocation from Eureka City Council for both the Del Norte and Hammond Parks projects. Grant parameters require all funding received is solely dedicated to this project and location. The City is currently soliciting donations for this project.
At Hammond Park (14th & E St.) the old restroom and concession stand have been demolished and a new restroom facility and concession stand will be built.

Empower Eureka, E.C.O Eureka, and Redwood Region Audubon Society are excited to announce the Wigi Wetlands Enhancement Part 3.
Put on your environmental steward hat, break out your handy dandy tools and join us one last time for a “Broom Bridage.” Saturday, June 2 from 9:30 am- noon (ages 7 and up!) get the family outside to help enhance up our local wetlands.

Spend 90 minutes beautifying Eureka!
Join your community on May 12th to help cleanup Eureka’s Waterfront! Volunteers will meet at the Madaket Square (foot of C St.). All we need from you is just 90 minutes of your time! We will send groups to different locations around the waterfront to pick up trash.
How’s this for motivation? Our last trash bash pulled over 7,000 lbs of trash in 90 minutes! Let’s do it again!

This “Cooper Gulch Work Day” event will assign volunteers to remove invasive plant species and replant natives at Cooper Gulch watershed. Meet at Cooper Gulch near the baseball fields at 10:00am.
