UPDATE: Second Adult Pottery Class Starts in April

This update reflects that due to high demand, a second adult pottery class has been slated to start on April 7.

These classes are an introduction to pottery and is designed to teach students the basics of crafting ceramic pieces, glaze application, and design.

Students will have 6 projects to choose from or may work on pieces of their own design. Open to all skill levels.

Strength and Conditioning Classes start April 18

Get ready to meet your fitness goals!

This class, taught by Pablo Durham-Aguilar, will help participants develop, increase, and improve their strength and conditioning fitness through simple, guided exercises that will focus on the needs of each individual student. Students will work in a small group either in circuits or guided exercises.

Students will focus on the following areas:

  • Stabilization Endurance
  • Strength Endurance
  • Overall Increased Strength
  • Cardio Endurance
  • Other areas each student would like to focus on!

The basic and most important principles of proper posturing and movement will be implemented to prevent injury and improve overall body function. Body weight, kettlebells, dumbbells, barbells, and other fitness aid props will be used during the course of the session.

Call to Artists for Humboldt BeeFest

Humboldt BeeFest 2017 Art Contest

The City of Eureka and the Humboldt Beekeepers Association are partnering to bring the fourth annual Humboldt BeeFest to Eureka. This includes the fourth annual Juried Art Competition.

Artists are being asked to submit their bee themed artwork by April 10th in order to be displayed leading up the event. Though late entries will be accepted until May 10th.

The theme for the competition is “Long Live the Queen!”. Artists are being asked to use their interpretation of this theme to create an art piece on paper or canvas, up to 40”x40”, and ready to hang.

This fun class is designed for your child to discover his or her talents, build confidence, make friends and learn the value of teamwork.

Through IMPROV theater games and basic IMPROV acting techniques, your child will  gain acting, storytelling and comedy skills.

Family and friends are welcome to watch the final performance. There is a beginning and intermediate level class

Music and Movement For Very Young Children Starts April 1

Come swirl and twirl in this class, where fun and movement abound for the tiniest of dancers, boys and girls from two to four years of age.

Watch your child use his or her imagination as he or she develops:

  • Motor Skills
  • Body Awareness
  • Concentration
  • Creativity

Beginning dance techniques and natural movement will add to the fun of this class, where self expression is encouraged. (Parents, make sure to stay and watch your little ones bloom.)

Family Ceramics Studio (advanced) Class Starts April 4

Have you or your family members participated in Family Ceramics before and are looking for an opportunity to work on more advanced projects?

This class is perfect for you! (If you would like to know more about the beginning family ceramics class, follow this link.)

Finding time to spend with the family can be difficult, which is why Eureka Recreation is providing this 6-week long session of Family Ceramics to encourage families to get in some quality time and create art together.

This class will be at each students pace and allow for opportunities to create several pieces to take home by the end of the session.

This class will provide students the opportunity to work in a more free flowing atmosphere where projects will be available to create or participants can choose their own pieces to complete.

Class fee includes up to two adults and two children with a $5 fee per additional family member.

Each member of the family will need to have a Waiver & Release of Liability on file by the first class date.

Family Ceramics Beginning Class Starts April 4

Are you or your family members new to ceramics or never participated in Family Ceramics before? This class is perfect for you!

This is a beginning class and will focus on the fundamentals of pottery creation. (If you have taken this class before and are looking for the more advanced class, follow this link.)

Finding time to spend with the family can be difficult, which is why Eureka Recreation is providing this 6-week long session of Family Ceramics to encourage families to get in some quality time and create art together. This class will focus on creating several pieces to take home, including pinch pots, coil pieces, and more.

Class fee includes up to two adults and two children with a $5 fee per additional family member.

Each member of the family will need to have a Waiver & Release of Liability on file by the first class date.
