FREE!The city of Eureka’s Outdoor Recreation Program, Explore Eureka, in partnership with the Clarke Museum is launching weekly “Historical Walking Tours” in Old Town Eureka on July 2, 2016.

The tours offer an interactive history lesson and are designed to be fun for the whole family. Tours take you up close and personal with the buildings and history of Old Town.

May is Mental Health Month

Come join us for all of the May is “Mental Health Matters Month” activities throughout our community.

Free movies, Art shows, Marches, Zumba, workshops, networking, a free family Skate night and a BBQ with all sorts of table and activities. FREE: Living History Day at the Clarke Museum

FREE!Living History Day is a chance to experience a glimmer of Humboldt County history.

Come down and experience what it was like to enter a Victorian-era pharmacy by enjoying some free draft root beer at our soda fountain, poured by local historian Ray Hillman.

Root beer will be provided by Lost Coast Brewery. Talk to a soldier from Fort Humboldt, played by historical actor Bill Kohse. We will also have a variety of touchable historical objects on display, as well as hands-on activities related to local earthquake and tsunami events.

FREE! Live Storytelling Performance from Paul Woodland

FREE!FREE Family Event for kids of all ages & their families.

This is a Wee Readers special event featuring: Paul Woodland—known as the “Mad River Raconteur.”

Paul honed is storytelling skills while working as a Park Ranger telling tales on the radio (KHSU) and through hundreds of public performances in the classrooms, parks and festivals.  Paul is well known for his weekly radio storytelling program, “The Whippy Dip Radio Show” on KHSU.

Wee Readers Family Literacy Program at Betty Chinn Day Center

Did you know that reading to young children increases brain development at an early age and better prepares them for future learning?

Children who are read to at an early age are also more likely to be able to begin to read on time.  Reading to infants allows for a social and emotional development that is vital for a happy and healthy family to flourish.

FREE!Parks & Recreation has partnered with the Betty Kwan Chinn Day Center to offer a Family Literacy Program for 0-5 year olds & their families.  This program is free and will includes a featured book of the week read out loud to the group, along with accompanying songs & activities.

City of Eureka’s Fence Banner Advertising Policy

The City of Eureka Parks & Recreation Department has determined that there is an opportunity and a desire for advertisers to purchase banner space to promote their events and businesses.

The purpose of this policy is to create clear guidelines for the Department and the public to understand the possibilities and limitations of the advertising opportunities offered on City fences.
