• Free water rentals from Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center
• Youth and Adult Paddleboard races

FREE Old Town Guided Historic Walking Tours

Take the family on an interactive history lesson of Old Town

The city of Eureka’s Outdoor Recreation Program, Explore Eureka, in partnership with the Clarke Museum is launching weekly “Historical Walking Tours” in Old Town Eureka on July 2, 2016.

The tours offer an interactive history lesson and are designed to be fun for the whole family. Tours take you up close and personal with the buildings and history of Old Town.

Kids ride free with a paying adult on Get Out and Play Day,  July 25, 2015!

Step aboard and learn the history of Humboldt Bay and Eureka’s waterfront during a 75 minutes narrated cruise traveling along the shores of the bay. During your cruise, the captain explains local history, industries, activities, points of interest, and local wildlife.

• The tours depart at 1:00PM, 2:30PM, and 4:00 PM from the foot of C Street
• Free for children 17 or under with a paying adult (value of $10-$16 per child)

One of the most fun events will take place in Sequoia Park starting at 2:30. It’s for the whole family. Prizes and laughter will be there. So will you!

 

Photo Contest on Get Out and Play Day

Just in!

We are going to have a photo contest surrounding all the events going on this Saturday, July 25, at Get Out and Play Day.

How to enter:

1. Grab your cell phone (or whatever)
2. Take a photograph or short video of any of the events going on
3. Post it to your Facebook page and tag “Eureka Parks and Recreation” with a description of the photo or Tweet it with the hashtag #GetOutAndPlayDay
4. Our favorite five will get a small gift certificate to Los Bagels. (We know, it’s not a lot, but what the heck, it’s fun, right?)

Other stuff we gotta tell you:

• By posting or sending the video, you give us permission to use in our publicity
• Photos and videos must be original and shot by you
• Our decision is final and will be announced by 8/1/2015
• Have a fun time and be creative
