Support Local Youth This Saturday …and Enter to win a Lemon Tree!

Support local youth in need this Saturday on Lemonade Day…and enter to win a Lemon Tree!

The mission of Lemonade Day is to help today’s youth to become the business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking citizens of tomorrow.

Eureka Parks & Recreation has teamed up with Humboldt County Lemonade Day to work with 18 youth who reside at the Serenity Inn (a 39 low-income transitional housing facility overseen by the nonprofit organization Alcohol & Drug Care Services Inc.), to teach them how to create a budget, set profit-making goals, provide quality customer service and give back to the community.

The group came up with a plan for their potential earnings—50% of the proceeds will go towards the Community Access Project for Eureka (CAPE), for Eureka Parks & Recreation to continue offering on-site recreational programming for youth and families at the Serenity Inn.  The other 50% of the proceeds will be split amongst the youth participants themselves—empowering them to learn the value of a payday at the end of a work shift.

There will be traditional lemonade available for sale, as well as ceramics made by the youth participants, and even a special edition 16oz Eureka League of Heroes collector’s cup.

Raffle tickets will be given out for every item bought, with the winning ticket getting their very own lemon tree!

This lemonade sale will take place this Saturday, June 3rd at the Serenity Inn- 2109 Broadway Street in Eureka from 10am-4pm.
